Yoga made me realise...

Every Wednesday I go to a yoga class, Wednesday is a "me" day where I get to refill my cup and do things that slow me down, and fill me up in energy. I am very thankful for this and really soak in every single second of those days.
Today's class made me realise something and I thought I would write about it.
Often at the beginning of the class the teacher helps you to ground, to be in the present moment and maybe asks you to scan how your body is feeling, if there is any area of tension, how present you feel etc. Well today there was, I noticed that my lower back and my shoulders were tight and quite painful. I took note, and then we moved onto setting an intention for the session. Mine was: To feel full, to feel replenished. I don't know if my intention was what helped me but once we got to the "body scan" at the end of the class I could feel and notice every single part of my body. Whereas in the first "scan" I only noticed the parts that were painful...

As you know me I like making small life observations into big ideas and philosophical messages so here it is one from this experience...
After the session I could feel my whole body, I could feel the parts that were there but were neither painful neither anything but just there. I could feel how whole I was from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. Sure, movement helps as blood circulates much better after some movement but I felt full on an emotional level as well. And it made me think... when we meditate, or do any mindful practice... It does not feel good just "because", it feels good because it helps us feel, move all the other parts, or things we ommit when we focus on our pains.
Now, at the end of the session I still had a bit of pain in my lower back (almost none in my shoulders though), but what was striking me is the feeling of the rest of my body which felt amazingly good compared to the beginning of the class where it felt like I was only "my pains".
When we meditate, or take part in any mindful practice that help us reconnect consciously and be mindful it helps us see the full extent of our "tool" box.
It help us to feel and see the functionning parts (either it'd be body parts, or parts of our lives). When we do not engage in mindfulness and do not give ourselves a chance to see the other parts of our lives, of our bodies that are not hurting, we often spiral down what is wrong and it is hard to feel armed to get over them. But when we do, we give ourselves a fair chance to see what is going right and how we can hook ourselves up on the "functionning" parts to get out of the pains and what is going "wrong". Have you ever had a realisation at the end/ during a yoga class? :)
