How to prepare the perfect a cup of cacao?

Following the article here where I shared with you the benefits of raw cacao, here I share with you how to prepare it.




So, if you buy your cacao from Nature's joint it will come in little blocks and you will have to cut it, shred it or grate it to make it easier to blend or to melt in the milk. Below I mention the use of a blender but you can definitely do it without a blender too, just put the cut/ shredded/ grated cacao in the milk and warm it up gently while stirring it until completely melted.


Here's a simple and delicious way to prepare raw cacao:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of plant-based milk (almond, oat, coconut, etc.)

  • between 10-20 grams of raw cacao (cut it/ grate it)

(I currently only drink maximum 10 grams as I am pregnant, just to be cautious)

  • 1 tablespoon of natural sweetener (maple syrup, honey, or agave) - optional

  • A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg or salt - optional

Instructions:

  1. Cut into small bits the cacao, or you can grate it

  2. Blend the shredded/ grated cacao with the plant-based milk in a blender

  3. Heat the mix in a small saucepan over medium heat until warm but not boiling

  4. Pour the prepared raw cacao into your favorite mug

  5. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg or salt on top for extra flavour

  6. Add a sweetener if you like things less bitter

  7. Set an intention before drinking it (what you would like this cacao to enhance in you like joy, love, openness, creativity... whatever it is, just pause for a moment to be intentional and make this moment extra special)

  8. Sip mindfully and enjoy the delightful experience!
